Water Conditions

Fish and fish juveniles perform all their bodily functions in water. Because they are totally dependent upon water to breathe, feed, grow, excrete wastes, maintain a salt balance, and reproduce, the physical and chemical qualities of the water are critical to producing optimum quality products.

We understand that to develop and deliver premium quality fish farming products, we must maintain high water quality in our operations. Thus, we continuously monitor the quality of sea water at our installations and the wastewater from our operations for the following properties:

Physicochemical characteristics

  • water temperature (oC)
  • pH
  • dissolved oxygen (%)
  • conductivity and salinity (S/m)

Nutrient salt and suspended water solids (mg/l)

  • Suspended solids
  • Nitrates
  • Nitrites
  • Ammonium
  • Phosphates

Chemical analyses of sediment (mg/kg)

  • Total organic carbon
  • Total Nitrogen
  • Total Phosphorus
  • Copper, Zinc, Cadmium (selected sites)

Benthos

  • Number and types of species of benthic macrofauna
